About the Official
Ed Coleman is an American politician from Indianapolis, Indiana. He was first elected as an Indianapolis City-County Council member at-large on November 6, 2007, finishing 4th overall in at-large voting (11%). On February 17, Indianapolis city councilmember Edward Coleman publicly announced that he had left the Republican Party and joined the Libertarian Party [1]GOP councilman goes Libertarian from Indianapolis Star. Coleman is now arguably the highest ranking Libertarian in public office.
Coleman was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and is a graduate of Warren Central High School (Indiana). He graduated from the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana in 2006 with a degree in Nursing. Coleman served in the United States Navy from 1995-1998 where he served as a member of the HS-4 helicopter squadron. While with HS-4 he served on the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). He then served as a member of the Indiana National Guard from 1999-2006 in the 38th Infantry Division (United States) HHC/MMC Discom.
