The Libertarian Solutions Contest - Winners to be Chosen at the 2012 Libertarian Nominating Convention
Want to participate in a fun contest - that advances liberty? This is your chance to create, in video format, a Libertarian solution that - if chosen by our panel of judges as a finalist - will be shown on the convention floor at our 2012 Libertarian Nominating Convention for attendees and C-SPAN viewers to see.
As a convention attendee, it's also your chance to vote for the best video among the finalists chosen in each of four categories:
- Best Libertarian proposal to shrink Big Government at the local level
- Best Libertarian proposal to shrink Big Government at the state level
- Best Libertarian proposal to shrink Big Government at the federal level
- Best pitch for voting Libertarian - and putting to rest the "spoiler argument"
Finalist’s videos will be on display at the convention. Submissions that meet the basic requirements for acceptance into the contest may also be viewed at this web site, space permitting.
Each of the first three categories will be proposals that a Libertarian candidate, if elected, could implement. Each will have the effect of shrinking Big Government – and in doing so, expanding liberty.
These proposals and pitches can be used by candidates to advance our Libertarian Party agenda through their federal, state and local campaigns. They will appeal to everyday voters – a majority of whom want less government than we have today. Yet they will be ones that the vast majority of Republicans and Democrats would not dare support because they actually shrink Big Government.
We’ll have fun picking a winner. Yet every proposal will be a win, because every proposal will help carve a path for less government – and more liberty. Together, they will showcase some of the many ways we can successfully reduce, repeal, and dismantle the laws, regulations, taxes, spending, authority, debt, liabilities and assets of Big Government.
Libertarian candidates and party members are invited to participate.
You can participate in the creation of these videos in several ways: generating ideas, script-writing, making the pitch on camera (especially if you’re a Libertarian candidate!), videography, or video editing. You may want to form a team with others you know with compatible skills or offer a candidate in your area your support in creating a video proposal for his/her campaign.
Requirements for submitting a short, punchy video are posted here soon. Stay tuned...
